Wonderful antique gold, antique replica, of a small French medal with Saint Rita of Cascia! This unique pendant dangles on an antique gold plated satellite cable chain with a lobster clasp closure. I am blessed to have this mint condition original in my collection and be able to share with you. The antiquing finishing process brings out the beautiful details so this is much nicer than the original.
Saint Rita of Cascia is most well known as the patroness of impossible causes. She is also the patron saint of marital troubles, baseball, unattainable causes, parenting, tumors, healing of wounds and physical abuse.
Saint Rita was graced with the Stigmata on her forehead. As she was praying before a fresco of Jesus crucified and she humbly asked for a part of His suffering on the Cross, a thorn fell from the Beloved Head of our Savior and pierced the forehead of St. Rita. This is why in many St Rita images there is a line from the crucifix to her forehead.
This pendant is 5/8 inch diameter. The satellite chain is only available as 18 inches long. If you would prefer a longer chain, please contact me. I can use an antique gold 2x3mm cable chain to make any length chain (the bronze version of this chain is on the bronze St Rita necklace).
This fine replica piece is cast in solid gold bronze using the lost wax method and produced in the U.S.A. The oxidation finishing process prevents tarnishing from contact with air. Excessive skin oils may darken the backside of the medal. It is also best to not wear gold bronze in water. A polishing cloth is included so the medal can be polished to the original appearance. You would not damage the medal by contact with water since it is solid gold bronze (not a plating), but it may darken and need additional polishing.
