This is a sterling silver antique replica of a very rare St. Jude Thaddeus Pray for Us medal. I am blessed to have this original in my collection and be able to share with you. This medal dangles on an oxidized sterling silver 1.2mm spiga chain with a lobster clasp closure.
The back of the medal has "Saint Jude Help of the Hopeless Aid Me in my Distress".
Saint Jude Thaddeus is the patron saint of desperate causes and the patron saint of hope in troubled times. He is the patron saint of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. He was one of the 12 Apostles of Jesus and is not the same person as Judas Iscariot. The flame above his head represents his presence at Pentecost.
A gorgeous, unique piece with depth highlighted by the antiquing finish. This medal is 1 inch high by 5/8 inch wide.
This fine replica piece is cast in .925 sterling silver using the lost wax method and produced in the U.S.A. The oxidation process eliminates the need to polish this piece. This medal is not stamped 925 or sterling because it is identical to the original antique. It will test as .925 sterling silver.
