This is an antique gold, antique replica, of a very special and unusual Saint Dymphna medal. This piece dangles on a 2x3mm cable chain with a lobster clasp closure. I am blessed to have this medal in my collection and be able to share it with you.
The medal is approximately 5/8 inch round. The prayer card shown in photos is included in the gift box.
Saint Dymphna is the patroness of those suffering nervous and mental afflictions as well as victims of incest. This includes the mental afflictions of Dementia and Alzheimer's.
This fine replica piece is cast in solid gold bronze using the lost wax method and produced in the U.S.A. The oxidation finishing process prevents tarnishing from contact with air. Excessive skin oils may darken the backside of the medal. It is also best to not wear gold bronze in water. A polishing cloth is included so the medal can be polished to the original appearance. You would not damage the medal by contact with water since it is solid gold bronze (not a plating), but it may darken and need additional polishing.
The sterling stamp on the backside is because the original was sterling--this replica piece is solid gold bronze, not sterling.
This medal is available in sterling silver, bronze and gold bronze. If you are wanting to wear all of the time, sterling silver is the lowest maintenance option. Please see this link.
